This story is in the naughty wife, wife-watching genre, superbly smooth although intense with lightness for such a deep story. Alexandra describes her characters as real people so that you believe they exist, and respond and react in the way that they do. Alice's humorous sarcasm heard only in her stream of consciousness intermingles with using dialogue and description.
As a fighting attire Alice wears her cold weather outfit, due to the extra vibe that it brings off making her look more bad ass. Alice has a very various sense of style, but prefers a rather gothic look the most. This is all because of her past, making her see things a bit darker then everyone else. Alice has as emblem an Omega necklace. This was given to her by her own sister, Elizabeth, as a sort memory of the past.
Alice always has been afraid to take it off because of the value this necklace has to her while others would see it as "useless trash". Another sort emblem that she has is Hollow Yves Pron. This is a skeleton that is attached to the bow on her dresses.
Every dress has a different Hollow Yves. It is shown that despite her capacity to be vengeful and edgy, Alice is truly benevolent and cares about her animal friends in Wonderland very deeply, as well as protecting the abused orphans from Bumby. Alice also gives empathy to those who she feels deserve it, and has reasons for killing the monsters in her mind. In this sense, Alice can be viewed as a heroine. Alice is clever, creative, intelligent and quick-witted with a curious nature.
She has a sharp tongue and a direct way of approaching things — she is not afraid to speak her mind. Her mother describes young Alice as being reckless. She has been described as stubborn, and becomes enraged when someone says something she hates, disagrees with, or when she is talked down to, and will retort verbally.
On very rare occasions, Alice has used physical violence such as when she attacked one of the orderlies with a spoon during her stay at Rutledge, as well as a nurse she believed was the Duchess. She is shown to be very ruthless and cynical towards others. Alice has always disliked doing that. This is because of her love verbal fights. This is a trait she has gained over the years. On the other hand she finds the violence against grimm very necessary, because of the fact that they kill humans and faunus.
Alice accepts other races and doesnt care if she walks around them or the other way around. As long as they dont bother her, she is fine with them being around. Alice does get the things the White Fang wants, because she cradled for freedom in her life as well, but the way they want it she finds very wrong. She doesnt get the fact that they use violence to get everything they want, and especially after the fall of Beacon, she finds that they handle everything very wrong.
Alice finds them heroes, who protect the civilians and keep away the monsters. She loves them and always will do anything to help them if she would find them wounded or injured or just hungry. Arthur appeared to be a middle-aged man with a squared jaw and small eyes.
He had thick, dark hair, and a full beard and mustache. He was wearing a dark suit with a jacket and waistcoat. Arthur seemed like he was a proud man and father, and was like a hero or ideal role model to Alice. He loved his family very much, even to a point of sacrificing himself in an attempt to save his daughters.
He was very wise and had a philosophical way of thinking. He had knowledge of various subjects, and had an artistic side, shown mainly through his love of photography. Arthur lived in Oxford with his family, and was a dean at the city's university. While not at the university, he would focus on his passion for photography, and he used the downstairs library to keep his equipment and pictures, despite his wife's concerns about how easily the flammable things could be set alight, and Lizzie's dislike of the chemical smell.
As well as spending time on his hobby, Arthur would often invite his undergraduates to tea at the family household. His act of kindness led to one of his students, Angus Bumby, to become attracted and obsessed about Lizzie. Infuriated by Lizzie's "teasing", Bumby broke into the Liddell house and did things to her. Afterwards, he started a fire to cover up his crime. As both Arthur and Mrs. Noir were heavy sleepers, they did not hear the "noises" coming from their eldest daughter's bedroom.
With the flammable equipment acting as fuel, the fire spread quickly. In the chaos, Arthur and his wife told Alice to escape while they tried to get Lizzie out of her room. However because Bumby had killed Lizzie and locked her bedroom from the outside, their efforts were pointless. Lorina has short hair and oval formed eyes, giving her a rather strong look. She wears a nice dress with a button on her collar. Lorina was a tough woman which was very stern for her kids, only wanting them to do the right things.
Noir lived in Oxford with her family, where Arthur worked as a dean at Oxford University. She was a strict but very caring mother who she spent most of her time taking care of her daughters and seeing to their lessons. At some point, due to Alice's constant daydreams of Wonderland, Mrs. Noir had conversations with Nan Sharpe about it. One night, Angus Bumby broke into the Liddell's home and did things to Lizzie.
Apparently, both Arthur and Mrs. Noir were heavy sleepers, and had not even heard the "noises" coming from their daughter's bedroom. Afterwards, Bumby killed Lizzie, locked her bedroom door and set the house on fire to cover up his crime. Arthur and Mrs. Liddell had awoken, and tried to save their daughters, telling Alice to get out of the house and calling out to Lizzie from outside her bedroom door. Despite their pleading, Mrs. Noir and her husband burned to death with no chance of escape.
In the Liddell family portrait, Lizzie bore a strong resemblance to the nineteen-year-old Alice. She had shoulder-length, dark wavy hair, an oval face, large eyes, pale skin, and donned a long-sleeved shirt and a skirt held up with suspenders. It was likely she had green eyes like her sister. The Queen of Hearts is at one point addressed as "Lizzie" by Alice, possibly implying a resemblance to her deceased sister. Through Alice's memories, Elizabeth appeared to be a friendly, sharp-minded girl who was much more adventurous than Alice when they were growing up.
She was a very loving person, and was dearly loved in return. She had a deep relationship with her little sister, even confiding in her about Bumby's sexual advances towards her. However, though she loved Alice deeply, the age gap between them was too great for her to be much of a playmate to her little sister. Lizzie also possessed a mischievous, slightly wicked side to her; she had tried smoking a cigarette at least once and revealed to her sister that it was disgusting, but still wanted to try a clay pipe.
She also knew how to sneak out while grounded using a tree branch and trellis. She also had a generally low opinion of the undergraduates that tried to impress her father, calling them a "bunch of toadies. Lizzie was born in Oxford, and because of her father's privileged job as a university dean, she lived a comfortable life with her family in Oxford, and was well-educated, having been taught French and music with Alice by their Nanny.
At the age of eighteen, Lizzie became the object of desire for Angus Bumby, who was one of her father's undergraduates at the time. Although Lizzie did not appreciate his advances, and disliked him entirely, Bumby became obsessed with her, believing she was just playing hard to get and pretending she was disinterested, and he would stalk her.
One time, Bumby even entered the ladies' restroom at the London Waterloo station to follow her. Disgusted by him, Lizzie told Alice about the things Bumby did to her, and told their father not to invite him around to their house again.
One night, infuriated by what he saw as Lizzie "teasing" him, Bumby broke into the Noir's house and did things to her in her bedroom. He then murdered her directly after this, Bumby locked her bedroom door from the outside. Bumby appeared to be slightly middle-aged, with a slim figure and broad shoulders. His face was very long and thin, with a pointy chin and defined cheekbones. His nose and hands were also very bony, suggesting possible malnourishment.
His hair was dark brown, and was cut to the nape of his neck, and combed into a side parting to his right-hand side. He also had a full beard and mustache. His eyes were small and pale in color. Bumby dressed much more professionally compared to Alice and the other children who lived with him. His outfit consisted of black trousers, a white shirt, and a gray waistcoat with a red tie. When outside, he wore a brown coat and top-hat.
Bumby was an extremely intelligent psychiatrist, and a scholar with a brilliant and wise mind. He appeared to be a respectable man of society as people perceived him as a helper of unfortunate children and a therapist who helped traumatized and mentally broken orphans to forget the negatives of their past. However, behind this well-mannered facade, he had carried out various cruel illegal acts of abuse, especially against young people and children, which included arson, murder, rape, forced thought reform, and commercial sexual exploitation.
Although he helped children forget their painful memories, he used trauma-based mind control so they would forget even the positive memories, like their identities and precious memories of their families, turning them into broken and lost shells. Like other undergraduates, he was a frequent guest for tea to the Liddell household. He soon became attracted to Arthur's eldest daughter, Elizabeth, or, as many called her, Lizzie.
Lizzie had a poor opinion of all of the undergraduates and had no interest in him, as she called him and the other undergraduates a "bunch of toadies", but Bumby became completely obsessed with her, believing that Lizzie did want his advances and was being a "tease. However, she still denied him and threatened to tell her parents. After Alice was deemed sane enough to leave Rutledge, her former nurse Pris Witless got her a place to stay in Houndsditch Home as a maid.
Bumby also treated Alice to hypnotherapy in Houndsditch, promising to help her forget the memories of the fire so she could recover the remains of her sanity. However, this would also benefit him, as the last remnants of his crime would be completely erased with no evidence remaining. His treatment seemed in vain, however, as Alice began descending into madness again, seeing Wonderland consumed by a strange black ooze and destroyed by a twisted train. Realizing that she had to face her problems her own way, she returned to her psyche to unravel the mystery of this new corruption.
Alice Noir is the youngest daughter of Arthur Noir and Mrs. Noir, and the younger sister of Lizzie Noir. She was born and raised in Oxford and had a Nanny called Nan Sharpe. Around the time Alice turned 5, she became the sole survivor of a house fire that killed her family and caused her to have immense trauma when she was a child, affecting her reality, as well as her imaginary world, Wonderland, and its citizens.
